Winter break for exhibition house and open-air grounds

The Viking Museum Haithabu (exhibition house AND open-air grounds) will be closed from 1.11.2023 until 22.3.2024. While the open-air grounds always take a winter break, there will be extensive renovation work in the exhibition house. 

Even during the closure, however, there will be selected events in which you can participate. You can find an overview of the constantly updated programme HERE...

  • Reduced prices are valid for: students, apprentices, the disabled, receivers of ALG II [a type of German unemployment benefit], voluntary services participants – respectively with valid documentation.
  • Family ticket: two adults with children of up to 17.
  • Children of up to 6 do not pay entrance fees.

We ask groups of more than 10 people to register with us before their visit.

Our media guide - free to download

The new media guide can be downloaded onto your own smartphone via a link (HERE) - either already at home or directly on site via the museum's free WLan. Alternatively, you can borrow a device from us. The loan is free of charge. If you don't have your own headphones with you, you can buy wired headphones with a jack plug (3.5 mm) for 1.50 euros in the museum shop.

Arrival 

The Viking Museum Haithabu consists of an exhibition house and an open-air area with reconstructed Viking houses. The car park is close to the exhibition building. To get from the car park to the reconstructed houses, you should plan a 20-minute walk.

You want to travel by bus or train? Then find out the best way to get to us at www.nah.sh. The bus stop at the Viking Museum is called "Busdorf Haddeby/Haithabu".

Please take into account before your arrival that dogs are not allowed in the museum and in the outdoor area.
