Winter break for exhibition house and open-air grounds

The Viking Museum Haithabu (exhibition house AND open-air grounds) will be closed from 1.11.2023 until 22.3.2024. While the open-air grounds always take a winter break, there will be extensive renovation work in the exhibition house.

Even during the closure, however, there will be selected events in which you can participate. You can find an overview of the constantly updated programme HERE...

Welcome to the Viking Museum Haithabu!

The Viking Museum Haithabu is one of the most important archaeological museums in Germany. The UNESCO has nominated the Viking Age trading venue and the Danewerk border building as world cultural heritage in 2018. Both the museum and the seven reconstructed houses located on the grounds show impressively how people live there during the Early Middle Ages.
